How to Import a Website in cPanel

If you are migrating your website to Porkbun from another provider, the process can be done simply if you are migrating from another cPanel account.

Note: These instructions assume you are using a generic version of cPanel at the old host.  Some hosting providers may modify or restrict certain features.

Export Your Site From Your Old Host

In the cPanel of your old hosting provider, search for and click on "Backup Wizard".

Click the "Back Up" button.

In the "Select Partial Backup" section, click the "Home Directory" button.

Click the "Home Directory" button to download your backup.  The file will be in the ".tar.gz" format.

On the previous page, click the "MySQL Databases" button.

Click the link for the database you would like to download. The file will be in the ".sql.gz" format.

Import Your Site To Porkbun

In cPanel on Porkbun, search for and click on "Backup Wizard".

Click the "Restore" button.

Under "Select Restore Type," click the "Home Directory" button.

Click the "Choose File" button and select the ".tar.gz" file you saved earlier. Click "Upload" to upload the file.

On the previous page, click the "MySQL Databases" button.

Click the "Choose File" button and select the ".sql.gz" file you saved earlier. Click "Upload" to upload the file.

Congratulations! You have successfully imported a cPanel backup from your old provider to Porkbun.
